Kenya Power has announced a significant power interruption scheduled for tomorrow, affecting various regions across the country. This outage is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to upgrade and maintain its infrastructure.

The disruption will impact major institutions, businesses, and residential areas in several counties, as essential maintenance is carried out. Kenya Power stated that power will be cut off between 7.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. in the affected areas to facilitate the work.

The company emphasized that the outages are necessary to ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply nationwide. Key areas to be affected include major markets, factories, hospitals, and educational institutions.

“Chemosit Market, Litein Market, Kapkatet Market, and Bomet Town are among the regions scheduled for the outage,” the company noted. Additionally, healthcare facilities such as Tenwek Hospital, Siloam Hospital, and Kaplong Mission Hospital will also experience the blackout.

Educational institutions like Kabianga University and Kabianga High School are listed among those affected, while tea factories like James Finlays, Chelal, Buretti, and Kapkatet Tea Factories are expected to experience temporary production halts, potentially impacting the economy.

Furthermore, urban centers in Kilgoris, Sotik, Mogogosiek, and towns within Kisii and Nyamira counties—including Kisii Town, Keroka, and Nyamira Town—will also face power cuts. Regions along Lake Victoria, such as Mbita, Rusinga Island, and Homa Bay Town, are similarly affected.

Kenya Power urged customers in these areas to prepare for the disruption. “We understand the inconvenience this may cause and thank our customers for their patience. Our teams are committed to restoring power as quickly as possible,” the company said.

The utility firm assured the public that this outage is critical for long-term network sustainability and will help reduce future interruptions. Customers were encouraged to monitor Kenya Power’s official channels for updates on the maintenance process and any changes to the outage schedule.
