Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Deborah Barasa held bilateral talks with Mongolia’s Minister for Environment and Climate Change Tsendiin Sandag-Ochir on the sidelines of the G7 Environment Ministers’ Meeting in Paris, France.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries on key environmental priorities, including climate resilience, sustainable land management, and biodiversity conservation.

Barasa said the engagement provided a valuable platform for advancing shared environmental goals, particularly in addressing the escalating impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities and ecosystems.

“Both sides underscored the urgency of accelerating practical solutions that respond to the increasing impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities and ecosystems,” she said.

She further noted that the two countries reached a mutual understanding to enhance collaboration through knowledge sharing on climate adaptation strategies, restoration of degraded landscapes, and the promotion of nature-based solutions.

The meeting marks a step forward in strengthening international cooperation on climate action as countries intensify efforts to address global environmental challenges.
