KeNHA made fresh instructions on the Nithi Bridge tender within hours of President William Ruto promising swift action towards its reconstruction.
In a Tuesday, August 5, 2025, advert, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) called for applications by all the suppliers, contractors, consultants, and service providers to bid under the Electronic Government Procurement System (e-GP).
KeNHA, the government agency responsible for the development, maintenance, and management of national roads, said the process of tendering for the 2025/2026 financial year will be fully digital.
“As the government agency taking the lead, KeNHA informs the public that the procurement of Goods, Works, and Services shall be done end-to-end on the e-GP system,” said the notice.

“Rehabilitation of Thika–Magumu (B20) Road, upgrading Maralal–Morijo, and Kisima–Sura Aduru to bitumen standards are also in the works,” KeNHA unveiled.
Prospective bidders have been advised to continuously monitor the e-GP portal for notices and advertised opportunities not to be left behind.
It followed President Ruto’s pledge on Monday, August 4, 2025, that the procurement process for Nithi Bridge would start immediately.
“The redesign is finalized and fixed. The project will cost KSh 7 billion. Procurement tomorrow. The new design reduces sharp bends, and the construction has to be done before the next general election,” Ruto continued.
Nithi Bridge has remained one of the country’s deadliest blackspots since its building in 1985, claiming hundreds of lives over the decades.
