The disappearance of Enos Lagat has sparked widespread concern and calls for action, with over 300 residents of Cheptiret in Uasin Gishu County, along with his family and friends, demanding answers from the authorities.

The incident, which occurred when Lagat was reportedly abducted outside Uchumi ,Langata Constituency , has dominated discussions on various social media platforms, with many expressing fears for his safety and urging for his immediate release.

Addressing the press during a demonstration, Lagat’s grandmother, Felistus Chelule, lamented the family’s anguish over the lack of information regarding his whereabouts. “As his family, we are in pain not knowing where he is and under whose custody. What I want is for my grandson to be released since we depend on him for our upkeep. The government should help us find him,” Chelule emphasized.

Elvis Tarus, a family friend, highlighted the frustration felt by loved ones as they await any progress in the investigation. “We want the police to investigate where Enos was taken after being kidnapped, and we want to know what happened and where he is,” Tarus asserted.

Christine Tarus, echoing the sentiments of many, questioned the motive behind Lagat’s abduction. “What has Enos done to deserve this? We need him today; it’s like you have shot the whole village if he is not here,” she expressed.

Kimutai Kirui, a Human Rights Activist from the Center Against Torture, raised concerns over the lack of ransom demands, suggesting a more sinister motive behind the abduction.

“There is a Subaru that abducted him where he was with his friends. People know that DCI is associated with Subaru vehicles, and if they are the ones who took him, he should be released within the shortest time possible since it’s against the law,” Kirui remarked.

He further urged the authorities to utilize Nairobi’s extensive CCTV network to trace the vehicle involved and demanded answers from the DCI Langata.

Enos Lagat’s disappearance has further raised eyebrows due to his connections with influential politicians in the country. In recent times, Lagat has been actively involved in assisting young people in his community to secure job opportunities within the police and military forces. His efforts in empowering the youth and his ties to powerful figures add complexity to the ongoing investigation and fuel concerns about the circumstances surrounding his abduction.
