Haitian Prime Minister Dr. Garry Conille arrived at JKIA on a four-day official visit to Kenya, a symbolic gesture of cementing diplomatic ties between the two nations.

He was received by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on behalf of the Kenyan government, an indication of how important this visit was.

While in Kenya, Prime Minister Conille is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with the President of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, where much emphasis will be placed on security cooperation and economic development, among other agendas targeted at promoting regional stability.

The visit reflects Kenya’s increasingly important role in fostering international partnerships, especially in Africa and the Caribbean region.

Mudavadi, while expressing the significance of the visit, said the trip was a milestone in both countries’ search for new perspectives of cooperation.

“This visit by H.E. Dr. Conille represents a significant moment in the deepening of diplomatic relations between our two countries, with both Kenya and Haiti eager to explore new avenues for collaboration in economic development and security partnerships,” he said.

The visit by President Moise will demonstrate that, although Kenya and Haiti have enjoyed diplomatic ties for several years, this is an indication of a will to take those relations further, especially in areas where they share mutual interest.

Issues to be discussed during the four-day visit include increasing security cooperation-a paramount issue for both countries-and strengthening collaboration aimed at consolidating stability in their respective regions.

Also attending the reception were high-ranking officials from the Kenyan government, including Dr. Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection; National Security Advisor Ambassador Dr. Monica Juma; and Butere MP Hon. Tindi Mwale.

In attendance, all three underlined the commitment of the Kenyan government to Haiti at the highest level.

In many areas, the bilateral talks between President Ruto and Prime Minister Conille are bound to cover a wide range of themes including trade and investment opportunities, exchange of knowledge in agricultural and technological fields, cooperation on joint peace and security initiatives with specific attention paid to organized crime and acts of terrorism.

Prime Minister Conille’s visit comes as both countries seem to have developed a greater appetite to play an increasingly prominent role on the world stage: Kenya, positioning itself as a regional powerhouse in East Africa; and Haiti, which is at a crossroads of economic stabilization and growth.

The results of these discussions are expected to further cement the partnership between Kenya and Haiti, with agreements likely to be signed to facilitate ongoing collaboration in the near future.
