Government releases Ksh8.5B Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Program Funds

The government has announced the release Ksh8,577,808,000 for Inua Jamii cash transfer program that will facilitate payment to beneficiaries currently on payroll.

According to the Directorate of Social Assistance Judy Tuda, there are 1,072,226 beneficiaries on the payroll.

The payment covers July-August and September -October 2022 cycles where by each of the beneficiaries will get Ksh8000.

Each beneficiary is always  paid  Ksh2,000 every month .

In a letter to county officials involved in the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer program, the directorate added that the current payment is inclusive of the nutrition improvement through cash and health Education Complimentary top ups for over 4,000 beneficiaries amounting to Ksh 8,400,500.

“Further note, the current payment is inclusive of the nutrition improvement through cash and health education complimentary for 4,549beneficiaries,” Tuda said in part of the letter.

The payment is scheduled to commence on Monday, January 9, 2022, and the disbursements will be through the contracted payment service providers.

The directorate has asked relevant government officials to mobilize beneficiaries within their areas of jurisdiction for the payment.

Inua Jamii is the Government of Kenya’s flagship National Safety Net Program (NSNP) for the beneficiaries of Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children Older Persons, Persons with Severe Disabilities and those facing hunger.

The objective of Inua Jamii is to uplift the lives of poor and vulnerable citizens of Kenya through regular and reliable bi-monthly cash transfers.
