Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde has broken his silence following the club’s disappointing run of form, culminating in a crushing 3-0 loss to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.

The Uruguayan international delivered a frank assessment of the team’s current state but remained optimistic about their ability to bounce back.

“We’ve had a bad week,” Valverde admitted. “We’ve been playing bad and the Arsenal game was not an exception.” His honest remarks come at a time when the club is under intense pressure, with fans and pundits alike questioning the performance levels of key players and even the future of head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Despite the setback, Valverde urged calm and rallied the team and fans ahead of the second leg. “I believe and know we can pull it back,” he said. “With heads held high and support from our people. All together, we can do it.”

Valverde’s comments reflect the mood in the Real Madrid dressing room — disappointed but defiant.

The loss to Arsenal was not just a blow in terms of scoreline but also exposed tactical and defensive frailties.

Real Madrid looked a shadow of their usual dominant selves, struggling to cope with Arsenal’s high pressing and sharp attack.

The result has sparked speculation over Ancelotti’s future at the club. According to Spanish outlet Marca, the Italian coach’s job could be at serious risk should the team fail to progress to the semi-finals.

The club has already been linked with potential replacements, including former midfield maestro Xabi Alonso.

Still, Valverde’s message is one of unity. He called on the fans to remain behind the squad during this difficult moment. “This is the time we need each other the most,” he noted.“Criticism is expected, but our strength has always been the unity between the team and the supporters.”

The second leg against Arsenal, set to be played at Santiago Bernabéu, now carries immense weight.

A comeback would not only salvage Madrid’s Champions League hopes but also calm the storm around the club.
