Eldoret:Kenya National Library handed over to Uasin Gishu County
“The 47 year old Library has assets worth over KSh 400M”

The Kenya National library Service Eldoret, was on Tuesday officially handed over to the county government of Uasin Gishu.
Monica Wambua, a representative from the office of the presidential committee on youth and culture, presided over the handing over ceremony.
The library with a sitting capacity of 200 and 17 staff has been standing on a 0.3 hectares land for the last 47 years offering services to learners across the educational divide.
Primary pupils, secondary school students as well as tertiary institutions of higher learning have greatly benefited from the institution.
Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii promised to embrace all the ongoing programs from KNLS promising to offer a pillar of support to the new library which henceforth will be under the county management.

The Governor has promised to fund and better equip the library into a modern facility which embraces digital learning.
While receiving the over KSh 400M assets of KNLS the governor has however stated the county will not accept any liabilities as they would raise an audit query.
We are going to link our libraries to the ICT centers so that our people don’t have to come all the way to the library, Added the CECM Education Hon .Janet Kosgei.
On his part Eng.John Barorot the Deputy Governor Uasin Gishu,pledged to mobilize more resources towards equipping the library with modern day technology.
