Eldoret residents protest increased water Tarrif from 300 percent Saying it is costly, and it will paralyse business activities in town and its environment.
According to their leader Kipkorir Menjo he said water consumers in Eldoret city have vowed to appeal in the case after the court ruling terming it unfair.
Speaking during a meeting in Eldoret Menjo questioned the Eldoret water and sanitation company for the increase saying i the water uses gravity adding that most business-like car wash, saloons will close down because of high water Tarrif .
The residents further threatened to stage a majour demonstration together with the gz,so if the government does not in listen to their demand.
Another Resident Abubakri Bini urged the Head of State to intervene in the matter saying that he was forced to pay to the needy.l,Kenyans the health insurance scheme that costs Sh 300 how about about the water Tarrif that is too high and yet the common man is already burdened with harsh economic times.
Bini said the water consumers risk contracting communicable disease like cholera and typhoid if the high Tarrif issues is not addressed.
An interview with a water Consumers Nelson Kiprono he called on leader not to be quiet. While they are being pushed to the wall saying that water is life.
Kiprono said they should have increased water by 10 & or 20 & that is reasonable otherwise majority of people have resorted to digging bore hole as their source of water which is also charged.
In conclusion a Mother Mary Chebet from Kiplombe said the water that Eldoret residents are consuming comes from item and it used gravity which is free and does not require any cost.
Chebet said even Elgeyo Marakwet residents do not benefit from it she further lamented that Eldoret was raised to a city status to defraud them which is unacceptable.
