An Eldoret based Human rights Activist,Kimutai Kirui has weighed in on government harassment meted against a Widow in Chemalal,Leseru area of Turbo Sub County, Uasin Gishu .
The plight of Selly Tanui was highlighted by Hubzmedia where she claims a letter dated 17th February,2023 and written by the Turbo Sub county Commissioner ordered the Uasin Gishu County Surveyor to illegally subdivide her land with her co-wife Pauline Boiywo who was divorced by her deceased husband 30 years ago .
The letter Directed the County Land Surveyor to subdivide her 18 acre piece of land Leseru Block 7 ,164 AND 165 against her wish and that of her extended family.
The Local chief and assistant chief have been accused of demanding sexual favours from the widow a move that has angered the duo resulting in using police officers from Simat ,Baharini,and Eldoret Central police station to coerce the lady into submission allowing ceding off close to 9 acres of her land to Pauline Boiywo .
Kimutai Kirui has urged relevant government agencies to institute investigations against the said Government officers while calling on other non governmental organizations to support Selly Tanui in demanding for her justice
