Residents of Kiptilalon Village in Kilibwoni Location, Nandi County, have been left reeling after a tragic domestic incident in which a young couple lost their lives, leaving behind two small children.

Police say a 31-year-old man is suspected to have fatally attacked his 24-year-old wife before ending his own life by jumping into a nearby dam. Nandi Central Police Commander Maurice Okul said early investigations suggest the couple had been involved in persistent domestic disagreements prior to the incident.

The woman was rushed to Kilibwoni Health Centre for treatment but later succumbed to her injuries. Shortly after the incident, the man reportedly jumped into a dam close to their home, where his body was later retrieved.

The couple leaves behind two children aged two and five years, who are now orphaned following the tragedy.

Both bodies have been transferred to White Crescent Hospital Mortuary, where postmortem examinations are being conducted to establish the precise causes of death.

Police have opened investigations into the matter and appealed to members of the public to report domestic violence cases early and seek peaceful ways of resolving conflicts to avert similar incidents.
