In related operations, the county’s fire brigade retrieved three other bodies from various locations across the region.

Local residents, led by Wilson Busienei, reported that the man—believed to be in his 30s—was first spotted by a passerby on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, in Kaptinga village, Kipkenyo Ward, rescue teams recovered the body of a pregnant woman from the Sosiani River. Shock engulfed the community after another male body was pulled from the same river earlier in the week; locals allege the man had drowned while attempting to rescue her.

Additionally, the fire brigade recovered a male body from a borrow pit in Karuna Meibeki Ward on Sunday.

Speaking to the press, Uasin Gishu Chief Fire Officer David Sitati confirmed the four separate incidents, urging citizens, “to embrace dialogue as a better way of handling family issues”, and warning against the risks of venturing near flooded quarries or rivers. He also encouraged regular communication with loved ones to monitor their whereabouts.

All four bodies have since been transferred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary, pending identification and autopsy.
