*Community-Based Organizations Urged to Collaborate with County on Gender Initiatives*

Anthony Sitienei, the County Executive Committee Member for Gender, has urged community-based organizations (CBOs) to forge partnerships with the County Government to tackle gender-related challenges.

During a meeting on Monday with CBOs operating in Uasin Gishu, Sitienei emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to initiate impactful interventions at the grassroots level.

Expressing concern over the rising prevalence of early pregnancies among school-going girls, Sitienei urged the organizations to proactively address this issue to prevent its escalation.

“We are currently in the process of formulating a comprehensive policy framework for the Department of Gender,” Sitienei remarked. “It is imperative to expedite this process,” he emphasized, while urging CBOs and other stakeholders to contribute their insights to the policy development.

Joywin Sang, the County Director for Gender, commended the stakeholders for their unwavering support during the recent International Women’s Day celebrations.

In recognition of their dedication to advancing gender equality, the stakeholders were presented with certificates of appreciation for their active involvement and support during the International Women’s Day events in 2024.

The meeting was attended by Director for Social Services Peter Ruto, along with Deputy Directors Esther Serem and Wainaina Kimingi.
