The family of the murdered Eldoret-based fashion designer Edwin Chiloba has demanded justice, dismissing claims that he was a member of the LGBTQ.

According to Gaudencia Tanui, the deceased first cousin, Chiloba, whose official name is Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo was brought up in a Christian set-up and he was even called a pastor in high school.

He was a child of the church and was also baptized. He was a Youth Catholic Society (YCS) leader in high school,” noted Tanui.

She further noted that she only heard reports of her deceased cousin being an LGBTQ activist on social media.

These other things we hear spreading on the internet, fellow Kenyans please stop spreading them. They are not true. We are hurting as a family,” Tanui said.

The family is now calling for the murder of their kin to be investigated thoroughly so that justice can be served.

Chiloba’s body was found last week stashed in a metal box that was dumped along the Kipkenyo-Kaptinga road on the outskirts of Eldoret town.

Five suspects have so far been arrested in connection with Chiloba’s murder including Jackson Odhiambo, one who police say confessed to committing the crime.

An autopsy on the body done at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret revealed that he died from suffocation.
