Cheptiret residents arrest police officer hands him over to Kesses Police!

PC Peter Mutonga Alias Mbuthia who was arrested by members of the Public.
Over 200 residents of Cheptiret area of Uasin Gishu county have arrested a police officer and handed him over to the OCS Cheptiret police post before transferring him to Kesses Police Station .
The residents claim the officer forcefully confiscated two bags of shoes from some traders at Cheptiret Centre , sold some of their shoes before handing over the remaining pairs to one of his employees Mr James Koskei who works as an attendant at Small Joint bar believed to be owned by constable Mutonga.
However the residents were angered by the arrest of Mr James Koskei saying he was only providing custody of the shoes that belonged to his employer , constable Mutonga alias Mbuthia who should have have been arrested .
“The officer has continuously harassed traders within Cheptiret, we decided to trace his hide out at a bar in Ngeria Area, arrested him and handed him over to the police , he is the suspect in this case Koskei is innocent ” Said one of the Residents .
The officer has also been accused of aiding the trade of illicit brew within Cheptiret ,often receiving bribes of not less than Ksh 10,000 , we want his immediate transfer. He added.
PC Peter Mutonga alias Mbuthia is said to have worked within Kesses Sub county for over 10 years.
Kimutai Kirui a Human Right activist with the Centre against Torture, has demanded immediate transfer of Pc Mutonga and three other police officers who have been identified by the community to aid in the illicit trade within Cheptiret ,The officers have also been linked to harassing of traders at the shopping Centre.
