Bayer Leverkusen have reached a verbal agreement with PSV Eindhoven to sign U.S. men’s national team midfielder Malik Tillman, according to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer fee is reportedly between €35 million and €40 million, and Tillman has agreed to a long-term contract. The deal is pending final steps, including a medical and official documentation.
Leverkusen plan to bring Tillman in as a direct replacement for Florian Wirtz, who is widely expected to leave the club this summer.
As part of the agreement, Bayern Munich have retained a buy-back clause worth around €35 million and a “matching right” that allows them to match any bid accepted by Leverkusen.
However, according to The Athletic, Bayern currently have no intention of exercising either option. Tillman, 23, enjoyed a standout campaign with PSV, scoring 12 goals in the Eredivisie and contributing three goals and two assists in six Champions League appearances, playing a pivotal role in the club’s domestic title win.
This move reflects Leverkusen’s broader transfer strategy following the expected departures of key figures including Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and manager Xabi Alonso. With verbal terms in place, the official signing and announcement of Tillman’s arrival are expected soon.
