Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has called on Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro to join forces for a 2027 presidential bid, emphasizing unity and shared vision.
Speaking on Hot 96, Owino named potential allies, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Edwin Sifuna, James Orengo, Eugene Wamalwa, Gladys Wanga, Irungu Kang’ata, and George Natembeya, as key figures to bolster their campaign.
“Ndindi Nyoro is a capable leader, and our collective decisions will shape a strong, unified front. Success depends on aligning our strengths with my brother Ndindi, a high performer,” Owino stated, expressing confidence in their potential partnership.
He stressed that their collaboration could achieve significant results without external influence, driven by mutual capability and strategic choices.
Owino sharply criticized President William Ruto and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, accusing them of ineffective leadership and contributing to rising corruption in Nairobi.
He specifically highlighted the mismanagement of Ksh.380 million allocated by the World Bank for road projects in Embakasi East, Mathare, and Roysambu constituencies.
“The contractor abandoned the site, and the funds have disappeared into individuals’ pockets,” Owino claimed, pointing to systemic financial misconduct under the governor’s oversight.
Positioning himself as a qualified candidate, Owino revealed his ambition to vie for either the presidency or Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat in 2027.
“My supporters have urged me to run for president, a clear sign of my suitability for the role,” he asserted. He emphasized his readiness to lead, citing his track record and public backing as evidence of his qualifications.
Owino also expressed disappointment with President Ruto’s leadership, accusing him of failing to improve living standards and the economy despite his humble background.
“I expected transformative leadership, but the opposite has happened. Retaining the presidency in 2027 will be a challenge for him,” Owino remarked, signaling a tough electoral battle ahead.
By rallying influential leaders and critiquing the current administration, Owino is positioning himself as a formidable contender for higher office.
His focus on combating corruption, leveraging strategic alliances, and addressing public discontent underscores his campaign’s foundation.
Whether he pursues the presidency or the gubernatorial seat, Owino’s bold rhetoric and call for unity with Nyoro signal a calculated move to reshape Kenya’s political landscape in 2027.
