Authorities in Kesses Sub-County have launched investigations following the discovery of an unauthorized police patrol base set up without the knowledge or approval of the National Police Service (NPS).

According to an official police report, the facility was established in Cherus Centre by an individual identified as Collins Leitich, also known as Chepkulei, a resident of Asis Village in Ndugulu Location. The building, owned by a local resident, had been painted in official police colors, creating the appearance of a legitimate law enforcement post. However, authorities have confirmed that no senior police officers were aware of its existence.

The matter came to light after concerned residents and local authorities noticed the unusual setup and reported it to Kamuyu Police Post. Following the report, law enforcement officers visited the site and confirmed that the patrol base had been established without authorization, prompting an immediate investigation into the motive behind its creation.

Officials are now working to determine whether the unauthorized patrol base was part of a broader scheme and whether it posed any security risks to the public. Investigators are also looking into the individuals involved in the establishment of the facility and any potential legal violations that may have occurred.

A senior officer from Kesses Sub-County has assured residents that authorities are handling the matter with urgency. “We take such incidents seriously, especially those that could mislead the public or compromise security operations. Investigations are ongoing, and appropriate action will be taken against those responsible,” the officer stated.

The unauthorized facility has since been shut down as police continue their probe. Authorities have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to official law enforcement channels.

The case remains under investigation.
