In a significant move for the media landscape in Kenya, the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) and various press clubs merged in Machakos County on Friday to unveil the Kenya Press Clubs Information Portal. This groundbreaking initiative is set to empower journalists, media practitioners, and content creators by enhancing their skills, monetizing their content, and advocating for the right to information in the digital age.

Victor Bwire, Director of the Media Council of Kenya, underscored the importance of the newly launched website in enhancing access to information. He articulated the pressing need for journalists to adapt to the digital era and harness the tools available for monetization. “This platform is crucial for fostering collaboration among journalists and ensuring they have the necessary tools to thrive in an increasingly digital landscape,” he remarked. “We are committed to supporting the development of media professionals who can effectively navigate the challenges of the modern information age.”

As a pioneer press club in Kenya, the Uasin Gishu Journalist Association undertook a monumental step with the launch of its first website, www.hubzmedia.africa. This initiative not only marked a significant milestone for the association but also set a benchmark for other press clubs across the nation. The website serves as a vital resource for journalists and media practitioners in the North rift region and the rest of the country  paving the way for enhanced digital presence and collaboration within the media fraternity.

James Gitaka, Chair of the Uasin Gishu Journalist Association, expressed his pride in leading this digital transformation. “The hubzmedia website is a game-changer for us. It not only provides a platform for our members to showcase their work but also enhances our ability to advocate for journalists’ rights and development,” he stated. “We are proud to lead the way in this digital transformation for press clubs in Kenya having inspired other  press clubs  such as  Meru Press club,Mt  Elgon, Baringo, Nandi, Kisumu among others. Our goal is to ensure that all our members are equipped with the tools they need to succeed in their careers and uphold the highest standards of journalism.”
