90% Of Youth in Kilifi County Consuming Alcohol;NACADA

The latest research conducted by The National Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) indicates approximately 90% of youth in Kilifi county consume alcohol.
Abubakar Famau ,a field officer at NACADA under the Omar proJect says alcohol is the most abused by the youth in the county.
“After we collected a series of data from Kilifi County an estimate of 90% of our youth have interacted with alcohol and still consume it, “Said Famau.
Famau added that the high rate of unemployment among the youth in Kilifi county has contributed to the uptake of illicit brew as well as drug abuse,
“Many of our youth are unemployed , they are wasting away , they have no mentors to look up to this has exposed them to the vulnerability of alcohol and drug abuse,”He said
Famau has Further condemned politicians who have a tendency of buying the youth cheap liquor and this has forced many of them to also engage in illegal activities ,
“It’s unfortunate that politicians are using our youth to cause unrest and destruction of property to destroy in the society, We urge Our politicians to develop empowerment programs for our youth so that they can contribute positively to the development of our country, “Noted Famau
