Uasin Gishu firefighting brigade on Tuesday retrieved the body of a middle-aged man that was lying on the waters of the abandoned Kabuito Dam in Kipkorgot village Ainabkoi Sub-County.
According to Uasin Gishu County Deputy Chief Fire in charge of operations Hassan Mukwana, nobody has come out to claim the body with residents saying that the victim is not a resident of the area raising fear that he might have been killed elsewhere before being dumped in the dam.
A team of swimmers from the county government department of Roads, Transport and Public Works took less than thirty minutes to remove the body from the shallow dam which has been turned into a dumping site for murder victims and those who commit suicide.

The residents led by Thomas Kiplagat Maina said the quarry belonged to a contractor who abandoned the site without filling it thereby endangering their lives including those of their livestock.
“We are appealing to the Governor and his Deputy to visit the site and ensure that it is not only fenced but also provides adequate security to check rising cases of victims of murder being dumped here and also those who attempt to commit suicide,” said Kiplagat.
The body was later taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
