The Digital Media Awards (DMA) has extended the deadline for submissions to October 5, 2026, following increased demand from creatives, agencies, brands, publishers and digital content creators across East Africa.
The awards organising committee announced the extension on Thursday, October 1, saying the additional time would allow participants who had not completed their entries to submit their work.
The new deadline is Monday, October 5, at 11:59pm.
DMA Committee Chairman Brian Njagi said the awards had already attracted 186 entries, demonstrating strong interest in the competition and the region’s growing digital media industry.
“We have seen an exceptional calibre of entries so far, reflecting the rapid evolution and creative depth of our digital ecosystem. We are just under 200 entries,” Njagi said.
He said the extension was intended to give more creatives, agencies and brands an opportunity to present their work for consideration.
The Digital Media Awards recognise creativity, innovation and effectiveness in areas including digital marketing, content creation, social media, publishing and technology.
This year’s competition features categories covering Film and Film Crafts, Print and Print Crafts, Media and PR, Digital and Digital Crafts, Live Events and Sponsorships, Design and Design Crafts, and Radio and Audio Crafts.
Participants are required to submit their campaigns, digital assets and projects online through the official DMA platform.
The winners will be selected by a jury comprising regional industry professionals and thought leaders, with the results expected to be announced during the Digital Media Awards ceremony on December 11, 2026.
The 2026 edition also marks the 10th anniversary of the awards. The DMA was established in 2016 and has since provided a platform for recognising individuals and organisations involved in marketing, media and digital creativity across East Africa.
Organisers say the 10th edition is focused on recognising the people behind creative work alongside the brands and organisations that commission it.
To strengthen the judging process, the awards have partnered with the Loeries, an established awards programme covering Africa and the Middle East. The partnership is intended to support a transparent and credible evaluation process.
The deadline extension gives prospective entrants a final opportunity to complete their submissions before the competition closes.
Entrants can access category guidelines, eligibility requirements and submission information through the DMA website. Participants seeking further clarification can also contact the awards secretariat via team@digitalmediawards.africa or 0787200143.
The organisers have urged creatives, agencies, publishers, brands and other eligible participants who have not yet submitted their work to use the extended deadline before entries close at 11:59pm on October 5.
