President William Ruto has inspected the construction of the 57-kilometre Bura-Mto Mwagodi road in Wundanyi Constituency, Taita-Taveta County, as the government seeks to revive infrastructure projects that have stalled.
Ruto said the road, which has a budget of Sh2 billion, had remained incomplete for nearly a decade before work resumed.
The project is expected to connect Wundanyi to the Voi-Taveta-Holili highway, improving transport links between the highlands and the wider road network.
According to the President, the improved connectivity will help open up the area to increased economic activity by easing the movement of people and goods.
Ruto also said the national government plans to invest Sh15 billion during the current financial year to upgrade roads across Taita-Taveta County.
The investment, he said, is intended to strengthen transport infrastructure and improve mobility across the county.
The Bura-Mto Mwagodi road is among infrastructure projects being implemented as the government seeks to improve road connectivity and support economic activity in different parts of the country.
