Barcelona Hit 26 Goals as Perfect Start Raises Big Questions
Their European campaign began with a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord before Barcelona returned to La Liga on Sunday and defeated Levante 4-2.

Barcelona’s perfect start to the 2026-27 season has quickly turned into one of the biggest talking points in European football, with Hansi Flick’s side winning all six competitive matches and scoring 26 goals.
The headline numbers are striking. Barcelona have won five La Liga matches and one Champions League fixture, producing a goal difference of plus 21 across those six games. They have scored 26 times and conceded only five.The results have been equally emphatic.
Barcelona began their league campaign with a 5-0 victory away to Elche before defeating Athletic Club 2-0 at Camp Nou. They then overwhelmed Rayo Vallecano 5-2 and followed that performance with another five-goal display in a 5-0 demolition of Valencia.
Their European campaign began with a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord before Barcelona returned to La Liga on Sunday and defeated Levante 4-2.
The six victories give Barcelona a 100 percent winning record in competitive football this season. The club’s official results confirm the sequence and show that the team has scored at least four goals in five of its six matches. But the impressive numbers also reveal one area Flick will have to address.
Barcelona have conceded five goals in their opening six competitive matches, with two of those coming against Rayo Vallecano and another two against Levante. The 4-2 victory over Levante was particularly revealing because Barcelona surrendered a two-goal advantage and allowed the hosts back into the contest before Karim Adeyemi’s late goal settled the match.
Reuters reported that Barcelona’s victory at Levante was secured after Lamine Yamal scored twice, while Xavi Espart opened the scoring and Adeyemi completed the win in stoppage time. The result maintained Barcelona’s perfect league record.
That late scare prevents the six-match run from being described simply as defensive perfection.
Instead, Barcelona’s greatest strength has been their ability to overwhelm opponents before defensive weaknesses become decisive.
The attacking numbers are particularly significant. The team has scored five against Elche, five against Rayo Vallecano, five against Valencia and five against Feyenoord. Against Athletic Club, Barcelona won 2-0, while the latest 4-2 victory over Levante took their overall tally to 26 goals.
Barcelona’s start has also been boosted by the form of Raphinha. The Brazilian has played a central role in the team’s attacking production and was named La Liga’s Player of the Month for August after a strong opening to the campaign.
The early form also places pressure on Barcelona to maintain the same standards against tougher opposition.
Winning six consecutive matches is impressive, but the real test will come when opponents are able to consistently exploit the spaces Barcelona leave behind their attacking players. The 5-2 and 4-2 victories have already offered evidence that the side can be vulnerable when matches become open.
Still, Flick’s team has given its rivals plenty of reasons for concern.
Barcelona are scoring at an average of more than four goals per competitive match, have won every game they have played and currently sit at the top of La Liga after five matches with 15 points. Their league record is five wins from five, with 21 goals scored and four conceded.
The Champions League has added another impressive result to the record, with Feyenoord beaten 5-1.
For Barcelona, therefore, the early story is not simply about a perfect winning run. It is about an attack operating at a remarkable level while a few defensive weaknesses remain beneath the surface.
The next challenge is whether Flick can preserve the attacking freedom without allowing those weaknesses to become costly when the opposition becomes stronger.
For now, though, Barcelona have done almost everything expected of a team chasing major honours. Six competitive matches, six wins, 26 goals and only five conceded.
The numbers are impressive. The bigger question is whether Barcelona can turn this explosive opening into a season of trophies.
