Well-Wishers Gift Nyamira Dad Motorized Wheelchair After Viral Video Singing With Daughter on Prayer Day

Tears of joy filled the air in Eldoret after a disabled father from Nyamira County, whose video singing with his daughter during a school prayer day went viral, was gifted a brand-new motorized wheelchair by well-wishers.
Evangelist Richard Nyamunyamu, a physically challenged preacher and father, captured the hearts of Kenyans after a touching clip of him singing alongside his daughter in Kapsawar during her school prayer day surfaced online. In the video, Richard, despite his physical disability, was seen joyfully encouraging his daughter, an act that many described as the true definition of fatherly love.

A group of well-wishers from Uasin Gishu County, under the Wareng’ community welfare group, came together to purchase a modern wheelchair worth thousands of shillings to help the evangelist move with ease as he continues with his ministry and daily activities.
Speaking during the handover ceremony held on a grassy field in Eldoret, the group’s spokesperson said they were moved by Richard’s resilience and dedication as a father.
“We are presenting this chair to Mister Richard Nyamunyamu so that it is going to be helpful to him moving around, spreading the gospel and doing what he likes best, that is singing,” the group’s leader said.
“The generosity which has been shown today by Wareng’ well-wishers we really appreciate. Our members have shown great love, and we urge members of the public wherever they are, whenever you get a case like Evangelist Richard, we should come out and assist.”
Among those present were Dan Meli, Dr. Musa Kiptanui, and Winnie Ndalut, all residents of Eldoret, who praised Richard for being a present father and a role model to many parents.
According to Dan Meli, Richard’s story is a lesson to all parents about the importance of being there for their children regardless of their situation.
“It is a perfect gift to Richard for always being there for his kids, especially for that girl in Kapsawar. We wish her the best in her exams. It is a lesson for all parents, just be there for your kids. In the case of Richard, he went there and welcomed the girl to sing together, that fatherly love is enough for that girl to perform very well,” Meli said.
A visibly emotional Richard could not hold back his tears as he tried out his new wheelchair for the first time, moving around the field as well-wishers cheered him on.
“Mine is to say thank you. God bless you. You have done wonders to my life. You have changed my life from walking on the ground and now I’m sitting in a wheelchair. It is a wonderful thing you have done,” he said.
Richard, who hails from Nyamira but had travelled to the North Rift for ministry, said the wheelchair will not only ease his movement but will also help him in spreading the gospel and singing, which he loves most.
The story of Richard Nyamunyamu is a powerful reminder that fatherhood goes beyond providing material things, and that being emotionally present for your children can inspire an entire nation.
