AIC Chepyagoris Senior School held a special Prayer Day for its Grade 6, Grade 9 and Form Four candidates, bringing together education stakeholders, church leaders, teachers, parents and students to pray for wisdom, courage and success in the upcoming national examinations.
The colorful and spiritual event was filled with songs, prayers and words of encouragement. It brought together different people who care about education, including church leaders from the African Inland Church (AIC), teachers from AIC Chepyagoris and neighbouring schools, parents, local education officials and students.
The event began with opening prayers and praise songs led by students. Bishop Moses Serem was warmly welcomed by excited students who were happy to host him. Teachers from AIC Chepyagoris Senior School and neighbouring schools were later introduced before the day’s main addresses began.
Speaking during the event, education stakeholders encouraged the candidates to remain focused and disciplined as they prepare for their national exams. They reminded them that success does not come by chance but through hard work.
“We are encouraged by the progress this school has made. I urge all candidates to remain disciplined, work hard, and stay focused on their studies. Success comes through commitment and determination,” one of the speakers said.
School Growth
Principal Eunice Sugut said the school has experienced significant growth since she took over leadership earlier this year. She said this is a sign that parents are gaining confidence in the school.
“When I joined this school in February, we had only 33 students. Today, we have 82 learners. This growth shows that parents are gaining confidence in the school, and we are committed to providing quality education,” said Principal Sugut.
She thanked parents, teachers and the church for supporting the school and promised that the school management will continue working hard to improve learning conditions and academic performance.
Education officials who attended the event also announced good news for the school. They said that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) had posted a new teacher to the school to enhance teaching and learning.
“The posting of a new teacher by the Teachers Service Commission is a significant boost to the school. We will continue working together to ensure our learners receive quality education,” the officials said. The new teacher is expected to help reduce the workload on existing teachers and improve personal attention to learners.
Bishop’s Encouraging Message
In his message to the candidates, Bishop Moses Serem encouraged them to believe in themselves and remain focused on their dreams, regardless of their background or challenges.
“Never allow where you come from to determine where you are going. No matter your background, you can become whatever you aspire to be. Stay focused, work hard, and remember that your value comes from within,” Bishop Serem said.
He reminded candidates that prayer must go hand in hand with hard work, discipline and obedience to teachers and parents.
The prayer day ended with a powerful special session where church leaders laid hands and prayed for the Grade 6, Grade 9, and Form Four candidates, asking for God’s guidance, protection, wisdom, good health and success as they prepare for their national examinations. Parents also prayed for their children, with many expressing hope that the school will record improved results this year.
