Two Young Girls Killed in Kisii; Grade 9 Student Arrested as Suspect

The bodies of two girls, ages 4 and 5, were found in a banana plantation in Kisii South Sub-County, triggering public outrage and renewed calls for better child protection across Kenya.
The victims were identified as Annah Bahati, 4, and Stacy Nyanchama, 5. They disappeared Tuesday evening while playing near their homes in Nkura Village and were discovered hours later after a search by family members, police said.

The bodies were taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

Many Kenyans have called for stronger measures to prevent such tragedies, emphasizing the role of parents, schools, community leaders and law enforcement in safeguarding minors and reporting potential abuse early.
