 Bishop David Moses Serem of the African Inland Church (AIC), Nandi region, has challenged journalists to uphold professionalism, integrity, and truth as Kenya prepares for the next General Election, emphasizing the vital role of the media in fostering peace, unity, and informed public discourse.

Speaking during a visit to the Eldoret Media Hub, Bishop Serem encouraged journalists and media students undertaking their industrial attachment at the facility to remain steadfast in ethical reporting, particularly during the election period when accurate and balanced journalism is critical.

“The media has the power to build or divide a nation. As we approach the elections, I encourage every journalist to remain truthful, responsible, and professional. Let your reporting promote peace, justice, and unity for the good of our country,” said Bishop Serem.

The bishop also prayed for journalists and media practitioners, asking God to grant them wisdom, courage, protection, and discernment as they execute their constitutional mandate of informing the public.

“I pray that God will guide and protect all journalists as they continue serving the nation. May He grant you wisdom to report fairly, courage to stand for the truth, and grace to contribute to a peaceful, united, and democratic Kenya,” he said.

Bishop Serem commended the Uasin Gishu Journalists Association and the Media Council of Kenya for establishing the Eldoret Media Hub, describing the facility as a valuable investment in strengthening the media industry and mentoring the next generation of journalists.

The hub currently accommodates more than 60 journalists from various media houses and over 20 journalism students undertaking their industrial attachment, providing a professional environment for collaboration, mentorship, and skills development.

Beyond his engagement with the media, Bishop Serem is widely recognized for his dedication to education and humanitarian service across Nandi County. Through his outreach initiatives, he mobilizes food and non-food donations to support schools serving learners from vulnerable backgrounds.

For many years, he has consistently supported Kapsabet School for the Deaf, helping mobilize food and other essential supplies to ensure learners at the institution continue receiving the care and support they need. His commitment has made a significant impact on the welfare and education of vulnerable children in the region.

The bishop was received at the Eldoret Media Hub by the leadership of the organization, led by Uasin Gishu Journalists Association Chairperson James Gitaka, Vice Chairperson Edmond Kipngeno, Secretary Naomi Cheruiyot, and Treasurer Elvis Wasike, who thanked him for his continued partnership with the media fraternity and his unwavering support for education and community development.

Bishop Serem’s visit underscored the importance of collaboration between faith leaders and the media in promoting ethical journalism, peaceful coexistence, and sustainable community development as Kenya prepares for the next General Election.
