The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has stepped up its grassroots mobilisation efforts in Vihiga County following the official opening of three new party offices in Hamisi Constituency.

The newly established offices, located at the Hamisi Sub-County Headquarters, Virembe in Hamisi Central Sub-Branch, and Muhudu, are expected to enhance coordination of party activities and strengthen engagement between leaders and members at the grassroots level.

The launch ceremony attracted party officials, elected leaders, supporters and residents from different parts of the constituency, underscoring the party’s growing efforts to expand its organisational presence in the Western Kenya region.

Speaking during the event, Hamisi MP Charles Gimose described the opening of the offices as a significant milestone in strengthening the party’s structures and improving service delivery to members.

“This marks an important step in bringing party services closer to the people and strengthening our structures at the grassroots. The offices will provide a platform for engagement between leaders and members while enhancing the party’s ability to serve communities effectively,” said Gimose.

According to the legislator, the offices will serve as centres for coordinating party programmes, recruiting new members, disseminating information and facilitating the implementation of the party’s development agenda within the constituency.

The event was also attended by Omboko Milemba, alongside local leaders and party officials, who emphasized the need for unity and active citizen participation in political and development processes.

UDA leaders said the establishment of local offices is part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening grassroots leadership and ensuring closer interaction between elected leaders and party supporters.

Political observers note that functional constituency and ward-level offices play a critical role in maintaining communication between political parties and voters outside election periods. Such offices often serve as centres for civic engagement, member registration, policy discussions and community outreach activities.

Under Kenya’s political framework, registered political parties are encouraged to establish structures across the country to promote internal democracy, improve accountability and increase public participation in governance.

Residents and party supporters who attended the launch welcomed the move, expressing optimism that the offices would improve access to party leadership and create more opportunities for members to contribute ideas on local development.

Supporters argued that stronger grassroots structures could help address community concerns more effectively by creating direct channels of communication between leaders and wananchi.

“These offices will strengthen communication between leaders and wananchi and ensure members are actively involved in the party’s programmes,” Gimose added.

UDA officials further urged residents to remain united and actively support programmes aimed at improving livelihoods, expanding economic opportunities and accelerating development projects in the region.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening grassroots leadership and empowering communities through increased political participation, guided by its slogan, “Kazi ni Kazi.”

The opening of the Hamisi offices is expected to boost UDA’s visibility and organisational reach in Vihiga County as political parties continue to strengthen their presence across the country ahead of future electoral activities.
