Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o is calling on residents to keep unity, quiet co-existence, and to protect what has already been achieved through devolution, even as the 2027 General Election draws closer, a bit.

In a message shared via the County Chief Officer for Roads, Wilson Nindo, during the county’s 63rd Madaraka Day festivities, Nyong’o said peace and togetherness aren’t just nice words, they are basically the foundation for prosperity and long term development. He also cautioned that divisive political talk, intolerance, and the whole blame game should be avoided while the country slowly turns its attention to the 2027 General Election.

“Peace and cohesion still stay critical for economic growth and social progress,” Nyong’o said, and he urged leaders , and citizens too, to reject anything that might chip away at harmony inside the communities.

The governor also expressed worry about recent cases of burglary and violent crime being reported in some areas of Kisumu County. He asked security agencies to ramp up observation , and remain alert, while urging residents to partner closely with authorities so criminal elements can be spotted early and properly reported.

“A secure environment is indispensable to economic growth, social stability, and public confidence,” he added , clearly.

Nyong’o then warned politicians not to stir up, or even fund, violence in the name of politics. He stressed that political ambition should never be allowed to trade off lives , livelihoods or general community wellbeing.

This Madaraka Day function was attended by national and county government officials, security officers, religious representatives , and residents from different corners of Kisumu County.
