At LifeCare Hospitals, our dedication to sports medicine has advanced through our seventh annual Eldoret Marathon event which we organized as our main healthcare partner. The event which people were looking forward to took place with Athletics Kenya and demonstrated Eldoret’s status as the “City of Champions.”

The marathon drew professional athletes and casual runners plus fitness enthusiasts who joined from various parts of Kenya and outside the country to demonstrate the area’s deep athletic history. The marathon represents a vital competition on the athletic schedule because Eldoret serves as a worldwide recognized training center for top distance runners during its annual Uasin Gishu County event.

The event gathered important leaders who included H.E. Jonathan Bii Chelilim the Uasin Gishu County Governor to show their dedication for the county government to support sports development and community health initiatives. The event included attendance from marathon officials who included Andrew Chelogoi and Moses Tanui a famous long-distance runner who has shaped athletic growth in the area.

Comprehensive Medical Support Beyond Race Day

Dr. Mayank Puri who serves as Senior Director at LifeCare Hospitals Eldoret addressed the participants by sharing the hospital’s mission to enhance sports medicine while safeguarding athlete health. He explained that athletes must undertake rigorous training plus they need medical treatment and procedures to prevent injuries and programs which help them recover from injuries.

Dr. Puri stated that our team has obligations which exceed emergency treatment during the race. “Athlete support begins with prevention and conditioning work and continues through their recovery and performance development process.

LifeCare operated throughout the marathon by combining a group of doctors and nurses and paramedics and physiotherapists who worked at race stations and the finishing area. The medical stations plus the rapid-response units were fully prepared to treat race-day medical needs which included dehydration and muscle strains and fatigue-related issues and other emergencies. The medical staff who operated in multiple locations provided medical support to runners who needed urgent assistance.

LifeCare’s most valuable contribution to the event involved its advanced Physiotherapy and Sports Rehabilitation services which made up the entire program. The hospital maintains its commitment to modern medical assessment equipment and best practice treatment methods and patient-specific athletic treatment protocols for endurance athletes. The services function to enhance recovery times while reducing injury chances and boosting athletic performance.

LifeCare Hospitals used their involvement in the Eldoret Marathon to advance their overall mission which aims to promote healthy living and preventive healthcare and community wellness. The collaborative project with Athletics Kenya supports their shared goal of developing athletic talent while keeping athlete health and safety as the main priority.

LifeCare Hospitals proved through its medical support of world-class sporting events that top athletic competitions need matching medical support at the same international level.
