The HSBC SVNS Series kicks off in Perth on Saturday, 7 February, with World Rugby marking the occasion by launching Hard as Nails a bold new campaign celebrating style, strength and self-expression in rugby sevens.

Designed to showcase unity through diversity and authenticity, Hard as Nails invites players and fans to paint their nails in support of inclusion and individuality as the Series arrives in Western Australia. Two bespoke nail polish colours have been created exclusively for the Perth event and will be worn by participating players throughout the weekend.

More than a style statement, Hard as Nails also highlights the physical demands of rugby sevens. Players were challenged across the city in a series of tests, including grip-strength challenges, to determine who would top the Hard as Nails leaderboard.

Nails are increasingly becoming a symbol of confidence and individuality in sport, reflecting the values at the heart of the HSBC SVNS Series. With men’s and women’s competitions running side by side at every stop, the Series continues to champion gender parity and the global growth of women’s rugby.

Australia Sevens star Maddison Levi said the campaign perfectly captures the demands of the sport. “It’s one of the most athletically demanding sports. You need to be fit, fast and physical Hard as Nails really encompasses everything it takes to be an SVNS athlete.”

Canada Women’s Sevens player Savannah Bauder added that personal style allows players to express themselves within a team environment. “It lets your personality shine, even when you’re all wearing the same kit.”

Fans are encouraged to join the movement by sharing their Hard as Nails looks using #HardAsNails and @svnsseries, as HBF Park once again delivers world-class rugby alongside a festival atmosphere of music, food and culture.
