Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has said his government wants to make sure everyone in education gets a fair shot. He believes that all kids in the county should have the same quality of education, regardless of their background.
At the start of a new education program, Wamatangi said that a child’s access to good education shouldn’t depend on their family’s money or job. Kids from poorer families should have the same learning and chances as those from richer families in private schools. The governor said this is the Kiambu they are trying to build, where no child is at a disadvantage because of their background.
The governor spoke as he began handing out free school supplies to over 40,000 young students in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers around the county. This program hopes to help parents with money and make sure young kids have what they need to learn early on.
The event took place at the Kiambu County Headquarters in Kiambu Town on January 6, 2026. County education officials, teachers, and local leaders were there. Governor Wamatangi mentioned that putting money into early childhood education is super important for building a solid base for school and helping kids do well in the long run.
He also said that the county will keep focusing on programs that give everyone equal access to education, make public schools better, and help students and teachers. He said giving out the ECDE materials is just one part of a bigger plan to raise education standards and give every child in Kiambu a fair start.
