Nkitintini Seniors Crowned Sialala Super Cup Champions in Narok

The Nkitintini Seniors FC emerged winners of the first-ever Sialala Super Cup after a tough battle in a 1-0 win over Esupetai FC in a spectacular final match that took place on Saturday at Ewaso Nyiro Grounds in Narok South Sub-County. The event saw a great turnout of football enthusiasts in a milestone event for grassroots football in Narok County.

The turning point in the final game arrived when forward Dany Lepore scored the lone goal which separated both teams. The goal was sufficient to win the historical title for Nkitintini Seniors, making them celebrate in a large turnout of players, officials, and fans who were present to enjoy the final match.

The first tournament saw a total of 12 teams from across Narok South and surrounding regions come together to offer a competitive platform for local footballers. As a reward for their win, a cash prize of Sh50,000 was given to Nkitintini Seniors FC, with a prize of Sh30,000 given to Esupetai FC for their excellent performance.

The third and fourth-placed teams were given Sh15,000 each in recognition of their outstanding performance in the tournament. In a bid to foster a culture of inclusivity and motivation, the other eight teams that took part in the tournament were each awarded a cash prize of Sh5,000. Tournament organizers explained that this initiative would serve to inspire these teams to continue participating.

Mr. Joseph Sialala, sponsor of the tournament, hailed all the participating teams for their discipline, sportsmanship, and level of competitiveness during the competition. Mr. Sialala explained that the idea of creating ‘Sialala Super Cup’ initiative is to promote grassroot football and spot talented players.

“This tournament was formed with a view to providing an opportunity for up-and-coming players to show off their talent. The standard of players they have put up against is encouraging, and this shows we have a lot of talent in our communities,” Sialala explained.

He also announced that he will register Nkitintini Seniors FC in the upcoming Rift Regional Tournament, which will allow them to face stiffer competition and access opportunities for developing their footballing careers.

He asked for continued support in this endeavour and indicated that work is underway to arrange friendly matches for local teams with established regional ones.

Mr. Pere indicated that plans are being put in place to have friendly matches played among teams from Narok and Mara Sugar FC, which is among the elite teams in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL). Furthermore, Mr. Pere noted that Mara Sugar’s local matches will be staged at the William ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok Town, thus an inspiration to players. As the curtains drew shut on the first-ever Sialala Super Cup, all were optimistic that this tournament would become an event that would repeat every year and boost football development in Narok County.
