Franklin Mithika Linturi Agriculture And Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Nominee was born in 1969 in Igembe, Meru county.

He attended Amwamba Primary School before proceeding to Igembe Boys Secondary School.

He then pursued a Diploma in Marketing from Kenya Institute of Marketing (KIM), and  a certificate course in Insurance from College of Insurance.

After school, he worked with several insurance companies as an agent later founding his own In 1999, Atticon Insurance Brokers Ltd

Linturi ventured into politics in 1997, contesting for the Igembe South parliamentary seat under the Safina party which he lost.

He tried for the 2nd time in 2002 under the KANU party, he also lost.

On his third try in 2007, the odds were in his favor and he won the seat under the KANU party, joining the 10th parliament.

In 2013, he was re-elected as Igembe South Member of parliament under the TNA party.

He has served in different parliamentary committees, including the Departmental Committee on Energy, Communications and Information, Public Investments Committee and House Business Committee.

In 2017, he was elected the Meru senator under the Jubilee Coalition, making him the second senator of Meru County.

In the just concluded 2022 general elections, Linturi contested for the Meru gubernatorial seat but lost to outgoing Meru woman representative Kawira Mwangaza.

He is one of those legislators who has had his fair share of scandals, Recently having an attempted rape charges against him being dropped by the courts.
