Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said the government remains committed to the completion of all ongoing development projects in Mbeere North, and the region will continue to witness gradual development under the Kenya Kwanza government. He added that more projects were already in the pipeline, all geared toward improving livelihoods and solving perennial problems facing the constituency.

Kindiki gave the assurance while rallying residents to support the United Democratic Alliance candidate, Leonard Wamuthende, in the forthcoming by-election. According to the DP, election of Wamuthende would give Mbeere North stronger representation and a greater ability to fast-track government-funded developments.

“The needs of this constituency are enormous, and Mbeere North cannot afford to gamble with its future again,” Kindiki told the residents during rallies held in Muthanthara and Kirie. “Those encouraging you to join the opposition are not committed to your growth; your development should never be compromised.”

The Deputy President observed that the constituency had for years lagged behind in infrastructure and basic services, adding that that trend has now started to change with many transformative projects already ongoing under President William Ruto. These cut across major sectors that include roads, water supply, electrification, and community services.

He cited major infrastructural projects that the national government was already funding, including the upgrading and tarmacking of crucial road networks like Siakago–Kanyuambora Road, Gikuyari–Ishiara Road, and Kanyuambora–Kamumu Road. Improved road infrastructure, he said, would unlock economic opportunities, increase access, and make it easier to get to the markets and various services.

Besides that, Kindiki mentioned currently ongoing water projects to help solve perennial water shortages throughout the region. Among these is the Kanyuambora Ward Water Project costing Ksh 250 million and the Kamata Water Project in Nthawa Ward, budgeted at Ksh 150 million. He said the national government has begun a strategic water supply project tapping from Kiambere Dam, which targets both Mbeere South and Mbeere North constituencies. Already, Ksh 1.3 billion has been allocated for this particular project.

Further, the DP disclosed that the government had allocated Ksh 336 million for last-mile electricity connections in Mbeere North. With his intervention, this amount is set to increase to Ksh 600 million for connecting more households to the national grid.

Kindiki said electing Wamuthende would ensure smooth cooperation with local and national leaders and, therefore, ease lobbying for timely completion of the ongoing works. “Leo will have the backing of all Embu leaders and direct access to senior government officials, including the President,” he said.

He also assured residents that he would personally monitor the implementation of each ongoing project to ensure timely completion and accountability.

During the rallies, the Deputy President also issued a strong warning to opposition figures whom he accused of spreading hostility, intimidation, and unnecessary political drama in the constituency, calling on leaders to adopt respect and engagement in a positive manner instead of insults and threats. “The culture of abusing leaders and intimidating the public must stop,” he cautioned. “Anyone who thrives on sowing fear should know their time is up. Mbeere North deserves peaceful politics focused on development.”
