The Kenya African National Union (KANU) has said it will host the 2025 Democracy Union of Africa (DUA) Forum in Nairobi from October 26 to 29, which will bring together leading political leaders, policymakers, and thought leaders from across the African continent and Europe.
Themed “Building a Balanced Africa–Europe Alliance,” the upcoming forum will consolidate democratic values, deepen governance dialogue, and explore opportunities for expanding Africa–Europe collaboration. The discussions will be on framing Africa’s democratic growth while improving intercontinental partnerships that foster stability, innovation, and prosperity for all.
The Democracy Union of Africa (DUA) is an association of over 25 African center-right parties that espouse democracy, individual freedom, market economies, and open government. The organization offers the member parties a platform to exchange ideas, formulate policy agendas, and promote democratic governance in Africa.
KANU Chairman Gideon Moi described the upcoming forum as a milestone for Kenya and a reflection of the country’s leadership in fostering democratic discussions in Africa.
“Hosting the 2025 DUA Forum in Nairobi solidifies Kenya’s position as a hub for conversation on global cooperation and democracy,” Moi stated. “The forum will bring together some of the most creative minds in politics and governance to reimagine how Africa and Europe can interact through innovative and inclusive political engagement.”
KANU Communications Director Nyainda Manasse explained that there will be panel discussions, policy dialogues, and youth roundtables during the four-day event, addressing some of the most pressing issues such as democracy, trade, innovation, governance, and Africa-Europe security cooperation.
He added that the forum will be wrapped up with a communiqué, outlining strategic steps towards building robust political institutions and strengthening economic and cultural relations between the two continents. An Agenda for Africa–Europe cooperation over the period of the next ten years is expected to be informed by the declaration.
Manasse also stated that preparations are already underway, with Nairobi being fully ready to host delegates and dignitaries from different countries.
“Preparations are underway, and Nairobi is ready to welcome participants from Africa and Europe for this significant dialogue,” said Manasse.
The 2025 DUA Forum is expected to position Kenya not only as a host but also as an influence in future dialogue on democracy, governance, and continental partnerships.
