Musalia Mudavadi’s Political Journey

Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi was born on 21ST September 1960 in Sabatia Constituency Vihiga County.
He is the current Prime Cabinet Secretary nominee under the Kenya Kwanza government led by President William Ruto.
Mudavadi graduated from University of Nairobi in 1984 with Bachelor of Arts Degree in Land Economics.
He first joined politics in 1989 when he was elected unopposed in a by-election to succeed his deceased father Moses Mudavadi as Member of Parliament for Sabatia constituency.
Mudavadi held powerful positions in government during the president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi regime which include;
-Vice President of the Republic of Kenya 2002 to 3rd January 2003.
-Minister of Transport and Communication 2000 to 2002.
-Minister of Information, Transport and Communication 1999 to
2000.
-Minister of Finance between 1993 and 1997.
-Minister for Supplies and Marketing between 1989 and 1993.
Opposition Members of Parliament are opposed to his appointment to the position of Prime cabinet secretary terming that position as alien to the constitution and therefore unconstitutional.
However, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula has declared the position legal.

The Duties of the Prime Cabinet Secretary are:
-Assist the President and DP in coordinating Ministries/State Departments
-Oversee Implementation of government policies/projects/programs
-Chair and co-ordinate legislative agenda across ministries/state departments
-Chair principal secretaries committees
-Supervise evaluation of government policies/Programs/projects
-Perform any other Function as may be assigned by the President.
