Xabi Alonso is poised to return to Real Madrid as head coach, marking a full-circle moment in his football journey.

The former midfield maestro, who donned the iconic white jersey from 2009 to 2014, has agreed to a three-year deal to succeed Carlo Ancelotti, who is set to manage Brazil’s national team .

Alonso’s managerial ascent has been meteoric. Taking over Bayer Leverkusen in October 2022, he transformed the club’s fortunes, leading them to an unbeaten Bundesliga title and a domestic double in the 2023–24 season .
