Zaritex Kenya limited Company, a textile industry based in Eldoret Monday donated two sets of Jersey to Hubz FC, a football club founded by the Hubz Media under Uasin Gishu Journalists Association(UGJA).
James Gitaka, the Chair of UGJA said the football club will be used as a platform to promote physical activities among journalists who work on tight schedules everyday leaving no room for physical fitness.
“We hope to play an active role in society by using sports and especially football to create awareness on important issues leveraging on what both the national and County governments are doing regarding drugs and substance use, mental health awareness and tree growing to mitigate climate change” He Said.
We are hopeful that Hubz Fc will provide a link between ourselves and members of the public where we can interact and engage freely. He added
According to Zaritex director, Dan Odhiambo the move is aimed at supporting local journalists in not only informing, educating and entertaining Kenyans but also promoting their physical well being.
“As part of our Corporate social responsibility we have sponsored Hubz Fc and we call upon other manufacturers to also support the team with balls and boots, this will go a long way in not only supporting the team but in their mandate to sensitize the public on social issues” He said

Mahlon Lichuma a Sports journalists and a Hubz Fc player underscored the critical role of the football team in helping journalists fight lifestyle diseases that could be as a result of a journalists routine life
“The club not only accommodates journalists but students undertaking journalism, since its establishment, the number of local players in the team has increased and as such the team acts as a venue for those struggling with boredom”
We not only report using the media platforms but we have made our roots to the society by establishing this team to help create awareness on social issues such as mental health.
“Since the establishment of the team, the normal home to work routine has changed and as such the time spent in the field works as therapy for our tired minds that could often lead to stress build up and depression,” Said Sheila Wanjala.
