Water Cabinet Secretary Hon.Alice Wahome together with Kwale county Governor Fatuma Achani have officially opened Pemba Dam in Kinango Subcounty.

The completion of Pemba Dam is a game changer to the residents of Kinango Subcounty who were facing perennial water shortage due to water rationing from The Coast Water Board.

The Dam is projected to produce over 3,000 cubic meters of Water per day with an estimation to serve over 800,000 people of Kwale and Mombasa Counties.

Pemba Dam already supplies water to Kinango town and more than Five villages including Amani, Mazola, Moyeni,Amkeni among other Villages.

Already Kinango Town and its environs receives 1,400 cubic meters of water per day with an approximation of 1.4m liters of water supplied on a daily Basis.

Addressing the residents ,Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani assured that the ministry of water and Sanitation together with the County Government will provide sufficient water supply from The Kwale Springs.

“We had issues with the Coast Water Board but after the meeting with the Water Cabinet Secretary Hon. Alice Wahome am sure the outstanding issues will be resolved soon”Achani Said.

Water Cabinet Secretary Hon. Wahome noted that the National Government will construct over 100 dams across the country.

Makamini Dam in Macknon Ward ,which is under Construction has been identified as part of the 100 dams to be constructed by President William Ruto.
