Ulinzi Stars striker Paul Okoth has won the Player of the Month for the SportPesa league for November 2025 after a litany of remarkable performances that underline his rapid ascendance up the ranks in the top-tier football of Kenya.

He was among a contingent of Soldiers who made the jump from the National Super League pace setters Migori Youth in the recent off-season transfer window. He has now hit the ground running and settled into SportPesa life with a noticeable flicker and energy off the ball; a want for goals from every angle; and cool, composed finishing even while the tide flows against him up the top echelons of England.

The month of November proved to be particularly prolific for the striker with the direct involvement in four Ulinzi Stars goals. He introduced himself with a telling long-range strike that secured a narrow victory over APS Bomet at 1-0, bringing out the attention on his ability to make the difference out of nothing.

It was for his performance in that commanding 3-1 win over Sofapaka that saw him net a brace and register an assist that suggested he had come of age. The performance showed versatility, which demonstrated he is a reliable finisher but also a creative outlet bringing teammates into play.

Beyond the goals and assists, consistent work of Okoth during the month showed his work and attacking intent. Average of 13 shots was per game, as he troubled opposition defenses, stretched backlines, and forced goalkeepers into action. Relentless pressure from him also opened space for fellow attackers, and that was a great contribution to Ulinzi Stars’ overall attacking threat.

His consistency and impact did not go unnoticed, earning him a place in the SportPesa League Team of the Week and ultimately the accolade of Player of the Month. Competition was stiff for the November award, with Okoth edging the likes of Shabana FC goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng, Murang’a SEAL defender Paul Ngugi, and APS Bomet forward Hansel Ochieng, but his decisive contributions in key matches earned him the edge.

Speaking during the announcement, SportPesa Public Relations and Advertising Manager Willis Ojwang said the monthly awards were meant to uplift the performance standards in the league. He indicated that this initiative is still nascent, but in time, it would grow, motivating players, coaches, and teams further.

As part of the recognition, Okoth also received a bespoke trophy from SportPesa, the league sponsors, and a cash reward of Sh50,000. Although Ulinzi Stars lost 2-1 to KCB during their latest match, the striker kept his good scoring form going by netting once again.

SportPesa has reiterated its commitment towards developing the league through long-term investment and initiatives designed to enhance competitiveness in the league with a friendly objective to position SportPesa League as one of Africa’s leading football competitions.
