Uasin Gishu County Governor, Jonathan Chelilim, today oversaw the distribution of medical drugs worth over 100M, 67M From the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority,KEMSA and another 35M from medical groups.
Speaking during the launch, the Governor said he was honored to receive the contingents of drugs from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority.
This was inline with his earlier directive, during his first visit to various departments in the county,immediately after assuming office.
“All our drugs should not be placed at the central store again, we should procure the drugs from KEMSA, who would then supply the drugs to the facilities across the county.” Governor Chelilim’s earlier directive.
The contingents of drugs that were being received by the county boss,would be supplied to about 138 facilities within the county, immediately after the swearing in of the County Executive Members on Thursday.

The governor was elated that residents of Uasin Gishu will access drugs from the County health facilities timely and without having to travel long distances.
The governor further added that the drugs received, are expected to last the County for a period of three months.
“The drugs will not last just for one day or two days, it will last us for three months up to January,this will take care of concerns from the members of the public who often complain of lacking drugs at our facilities ”Said the Governor.
The County boss noted that he will be working closely with the medical staff to ensure quality health service delivery .
“You have been patient, sometimes we promise things that don’t happen, but personally I committed myself to the people of this county, and health is key and working together with you we will deliver the best to our people,” Said Governor Bii
