Turkana county students studying in various Tertiary institutions in Eldoret ,Uasin Gishu county, have threatened to hold demonstrations in Eldoret town on Monday following a decision by the Turkana County Government to discontinue Bursary Funds allocation to finance their studies in certain Institutions.
Addressing the media in Eldoret, the students expressed their Frustrations over the move claiming denial of bursary funds would force many out of school.
“Our parents are pastoralists, many of us come from humble backgrounds, and this move would only mean an end to our Education”Said John Ekai, one of the Students.

We are perturbed by the notice from the Turkana County Executive Committee member for Education to refuse to disburse Bursary Funds to many of us undertaking various causes in different Institutions here in Eldoret, we will be forced to discontinue our learning forthwith. Said Dorcas
The students have issued a two days ultimatum to the Turkana County Government to reverse the decision failure to which they will be protesting.
Some of the affected students are undertaking Diploma courses in Civil Engineering at the Eldoret National Polytechnic among other Training Institutions based In Eldoret.
