The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has initiated a massive recruitment exercise, with 45,000 and more plus vacancies for teachers in the nation. Both permanent and internship positions are available.
In a posting on X on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, TSC advertised 21,313 senior and mid-level positions in schools in the nation.
The positions in question are chief principal, senior principal, principal, deputy principal, senior lecturer, senior master, secondary teacher I, senior headteacher, headteacher, deputy headteacher, senior teacher, senior curriculum support officer, and curriculum support officer.
“TSC is inviting applications for 21,313 posts. Eligible candidates who are interested are requested to apply online on the TSC portal,” stated the announcement.

In another announcement, TSC said it has plans to employ 24,000 teacher interns for junior secondary schools from August 2025. This comes in the wake of an attempt to stem shortage of staff and allow the introduction of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
The internship positions will be distributed across the country. TSC will post the distribution of the positions by county and sub-county before doing the recruitment.
“Teachers Service Commission invites interested applicants to fill 24,000 teacher intern positions in Junior Schools,” TSC said.
Internship positions application will be ongoing from August 26, 2025, until midnight of September 9, 2025. Application and submission of required documents online by the candidates should be made within the specified time. TSC has recommended candidates to fill their applications early enough to prevent any technical problems at the last minute.
Most schools, especially in rural and underprivileged areas, have been struggling with severe shortages of teachers. The new entrants and interns are also expected to improve the quality of teaching and offer students more personalized attention.
This large-scale recruitment is an indicator of the government’s commitment to building a more effective teaching corps. It also supports the smooth implementation of CBC nationwide.
