A somber mood has descended upon the Turbo area of Uasin Gishu County, Kenya, following the tragic deaths of three young children who fell into a pit latrine.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving residents in a state of grief and shock.

According to the area chief, the children had visited the toilet to relieve themselves when the accident occurred.

The chief, who spoke to our reporter via a phone interview, confirmed that the victims were pupils from Åse Queen of Angels school, which has subsequently been closed indefinitely due to the tragic incident.

The bodies of the deceased are currently being held at Turbo Sub-County Hospital, but will be transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for further examination.

In the wake of this tragedy, members of the public have been warned to exercise extreme caution, particularly during the rainy season when such accidents are more likely to occur.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of children, especially in areas where infrastructure may be lacking.

The community is still reeling from the shock of the incident, and condolences have been pouring in for the families of the victims. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy is expected to be launched.
