Tigoni police arrested a suspected narcotics dealer in a huge raid. The suspect was in possession of 800 bhang rolls hidden in a weeding bag.
The arrest was made on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Karambaini Tea Zone, Kiambaa Sub-County. It followed an intelligence-guided operation by Tigoni police.
The suspect was on a TVS Star motorbike, as indicated in a police report. He lied that he had khat in order to conceal his illegal activities. The police officers arrested him and searched him.
They discovered the cannabis rolls in the woven bag he was carrying. They also confiscated Ksh3,795, which is believed to be from drug profits.
The suspect, who was posing as a khat transporter, was arrested with the drugs and cash,” confirmed the National Police Service (NPS) in a statement on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
The police swiftly lodged him in custody alongside the exhibits. He is to be arraigned in court shortly.
The NPS announced that the operation is part of an extended campaign against drug trafficking. They also seek to bring an end to the sale of illegal brews and second-generation alcohol.
Official warned that drugs still threaten public security and health. They committed to increase efforts to dismantle trafficking networks.
“The National Police Service remains committed to fighting the sale and distribution of dangerous substances,” the release read.
The general public has been requested by the police to report any suspicious activity. Police argue that public support is crucial in stopping the sale of drugs.
The arrest of Tigoni is among a growing list of successful raids in the past months. Police forces have been mounting patrols and gathering intelligence to cut the business.
The prosecution of the suspect will determine the future path in the legal process.
