Thomas Partey formally charged as lawyer issues statement

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey faces serious legal trouble after being charged with multiple counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized the charges following a three‑year-long investigation by the Metropolitan Police. The alleged offences, involving three women, are said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022 .
Partey’s defence was swiftly issued by his lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire of Hickman and Rose: “Thomas denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three‑year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further.”
Her words underline Partey’s stance: complete innocence and readiness to defend himself in court.The details of the allegations are grave. One woman has accused Partey of two counts of rape; a second alleges three counts; a third accuses him of sexual assault .
Partey, 32, is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5, 2025 .The Metropolitan Police confirmed the investigation first began in February 2022, with Partey arrested in July of the same year.
Though not publicly identified at the time, he continued to play for Arsenal while the case progressed.Police and prosecutors emphasized the importance of fairness and sensitivity.

Partey’s release from Arsenal on June 30, 2025, coincided closely with these developments. Having joined the club in October 2020 for around £45 million, he accumulated 167 club appearances . While Arsenal released an official acknowledgement of the charges, they declined any detailed statement due to legal constraints.
