During the Rift Valley Regional games at Longisa Boys in Bomet County, the field was transformed into a classroom when students from the CBC class at Sunshine Longisa Junior Academy visited. With the introduction of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), the learners participated in a fifteen-minute session with referees and match officials to understand the dynamics of rugby.
Mr. Humphrey Kisala, the Regional Rugby Development Officer for the North Rift region, emphasized the importance of theoretical knowledge in rugby.
“Rugby is a game with many rules, and therefore, this practice of theoretical rugby has highlighted the necessity for teams to receive coaching beyond the field,” Mr. Kisala expressed.
As rugby continues to grow, there is an increasing need to educate players about the sport’s evolving rules and developments.
“Rugby is evolving, rules are changing, and the sport is expanding. Therefore, it is beneficial for teams to conduct classroom sessions to help create a better understanding of the changes,” Mr. Kisala stated.
