Two ambitious sports clubs, Soy United Football Club and Chema Volleyball Club, have been elevated to national leagues after strong showings in their respective competitions during the 2024/2025 season.
Soy United FC, based in Kitale, will now feature in the FKF National Super League, while Chema VC from Juja has advanced to the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National Men’s League. Both promotions mark significant milestones for the clubs and reflect continued growth in grassroots sports across the country.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officially confirmed Soy United’s promotion in a letter dated June 30, 2025. The club earned its place on merit, although their advancement had been briefly delayed by an appeal from Gucha Stars, who were penalized three points for using an ineligible player. The FKF Appeals Committee upheld the decision, solidifying Soy United’s rise.
“Soy United’s journey proves that discipline, effort, and fair competition can yield great results,” said FKF General Secretary Harold Ndege. He also extended congratulations to the team’s players, coaches, and fans who supported the club throughout the season.
Looking ahead, the team is preparing for a challenging season in the second tier of Kenyan football. Club officials have announced plans to bolster the squad and upgrade training programs to ensure strong performances against more competitive opposition.
Meanwhile, Chema Volleyball Club has earned a spot in the top flight of Kenyan volleyball. Their promotion, confirmed by the KVF in a letter dated July 18, 2025, comes after a dominant campaign in the Division Two League.
KVF National Sports Organizing Secretary John Oronje commended the team’s consistency and energy, stating, “Chema VC demonstrated the resilience and competitive mindset we aim to cultivate at the national level.”
The club’s leadership celebrated the achievement, with Team Manager Evans Waweru expressing pride in the players’ development and reaffirming their commitment to continued improvement. The club intends to invest further in training facilities and youth programs as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The promotions have sparked enthusiasm in both Kitale and Juja. Soy United supporters hailed their team’s perseverance, especially following the uncertainty surrounding the appeal. The club is now focused on building infrastructure and seeking sponsorship to match its elevated status.
In Juja, Chema VC resumed training with renewed focus. Players and coaches are working to fine-tune their strategies and attract wider community support ahead of their first season in the KVF National League. The promotion is also expected to increase the club’s visibility and opportunities for partnerships.
Analysts and fans alike have welcomed the news as a boost for sports development in Kenya. The success of these clubs underscores the potential of regional leagues in identifying talent and offering pathways to national recognition.
